Define the excavation scope

Include the dimensions, proposed levels and intended use of the prepared area. This helps distinguish bulk preparation from detailed excavation.
Existing site conditions
Provide site photos and any available ground information. Identify existing services, structures to retain and entry restrictions for plant.
Material removal and follow-on work
Clarify whether spoil is to remain on site or be removed, and whether demolition or retaining wall work forms part of the same package.
Access, levels and existing services
The work required depends on the site and the available information. Send plans, proposed levels and photographs of the entry points. Flag existing services, nearby structures and any restrictions on plant access so those conditions can be discussed.
Agree the material and handover requirements
Explain what material needs to be removed and the intended finished condition. If demolition or retaining wall works are also involved, include them in the enquiry so the team can discuss the sequence and quote boundaries.
